Men's 4-Season Softshell Pant

HIGH PERFORMANCE TECHNICAL SOFTSHELL PANT FOR MIXED CONDITIONS

Valen 4S is a durable, technical and lightly insulated softshell pant built for climbing and mountaineering in mixed conditions. Based on the popular Valens, the 4S variant features Kevlar™ instep protectors, a toughened grade of softshell fabric, zipped vent at the ankle to accommodate approach shoes, mountain or touring boots, as well as braces, a thigh pocket and a secure integrated waist belt.

The articulated patterning, 4-way stretch and gusseted crotch provide excellent freedom of movement. Lightweight sueded pocket liners help with hand warmth on colder days and the Durable Water Repellent finish protects against light showers. Each cuff features twin eyelets for optional stirrup attachment as well as a low-profile internal drawcord for cinching.

Excellent all round

Just got back from a week using these in Chamonix and they were great. Stood up to rubbish weather with some rain and snow. Warm and breathable and worked well with thermals. Athletic fit but good room at the bottom for mountain boots. Kevlar inner on the legs are very thick and tough. Only thing id add would be leg vents. Other than that highly recommend.

Capable winter softshell

These seem ideal as a Scottish Winter softshell so far - warm enough (with a baselayer) for around-freezing temps, water-shedding enough to shake off a reasonable amount of rain, and no sign of scuffing or wear yet.
The fit is pretty tight, but they're also pretty stretchy.
If they had properly waterproof patches on the knees and seat they'd topple my old Patagonia Backcounty Guides as the ultimate winter legwear.

I liked them so much I bought another pair

These pants are ace. They've become a second skin. I'm a mountain rescue volunteer and have worn them on multiple team activities from training to rescues. On personal hill and mountain days I've battered them. They are so good that I've gone and bought another pair which then made me buy a pair of the Vanir LT overtrousers. I'm now saving up for one of the hardshell jackets. It's a curse. The kits brilliant though.
