Jöttnar designs and builds high-performance mountain clothing for people who operate in the world’s most demanding environments.

 

The brand was founded in Arctic Norway by two British former Royal Marine commandos and lifelong mountaineers. Years spent working and training in demanding conditions shaped a clear view of what equipment needs to do - and where existing gear fell short.

 

So we built our own.

Fit, fabric and construction are developed through direct use, then refined through repetition.

 

We develop fabric and construction techniques not for effect, but because they measurably improve performance. We know the small details matter, because we have lived with gear that fails when they don’t.

 

We test each product in the environments it’s built for.

Our gear is used by climbers, skiers, guides, mountain rescue teams, specialist military units and professional athletes who rely on performance over extended periods, often in consequential conditions.

 

We don’t chase trends or exaggerate claims. If something works, it earns its place. If it doesn’t, it’s removed.

 

Excess gets in the way of function. Performance, durability and reliability are the measures that matter.
