Men's Lightweight Down Jacket

A hydrophobic goose down jacket for cold conditions

A hoodless, collared version of the Fenrir, the Thorsen is designed for further weight saving and for those who prefer no hood. Stuffed with 850 Fill Power goose down, in a premium 93/7 down/feather ratio for an excellent warmth to weight ratio. Our water-repellent down from DownTek™ stays dry 10x longer than untreated down. Unlike inferior versions, our water repellency won’t wash out and is free of harmful fluorocarbons. Our ethical approach to down sourcing complies with the Responsible Down Standard.

A water repellent rip-stop face fabric resists the wet, and potential moisture zones at the cuffs, hem and collar contain synthetic insulation. The Thorsen also features stretch technical cuffs, and is supplied with its own stuff sack for easy carriage.

Awesome kit, great quality, great fit. Best outdoor jacket I’ve bought - beats North Face and the others hands down!

So far, so good!

I received this as a gift after having a much cheaper version for the last two years and finding it so useful. You get what you pay for with quality so the cheaper version was looking tired with feathers coming constantly and the Jottnar version has been on my wish list for a while.

It has lived up to the reviews and hype. The build quality seems to be top-notch (significantly better than my other version; zips, material, etc.), it's extremely comfortable and warm, looks great and packs down into a ridiculously small pouch. After a few weeks, I have only noticed one feather coming through as well so also happy with that. I've noticed a few other reviews wondering about how easily the outer material will snag or tear (and it does feel like it could easily). It's early days but I actually caught this on a thorny branch recently and pulled hard away before I had noticed, panicked expecting it to have torn but it was fine and doesn't even have a mark. Fingers crossed, I'll be more careful in future!

Two small things I would improve about it. My other cheap version had a small pocket on the inside waist area which was great for storing the pouch. The only place really to store it on the Thorsen is the inside higher chest zip pocket which I find less comfortable as that area is tighter against the skin. I don't feel confident storing it in the outer hand pockets as with my hands constantly going in and out, it's susceptible to dropping out and being lost. The other change I would love to see would be to have it made in the U.K. rather than China, I can appreciate this would increase the cost significantly but I'd be happy to pay more for this (support a closer economy and higher confidence in the quality).

All in all, a fantastic jacket. I'm extremely happy with it!

Brilliant jacket for a wide variety of temperatures and conditions

Very warm, slick looking and highly functional to boot.
I've worn it as both an outer layer when around 0 degrees and a mid-layer for when the temperature was -10 degrees.
In both situations, it keeps you snug and I didn't overheat when wearing it as the mid-layer.
I cannot recommend it highly enough, like seemingly everything else that I have worn of Jottnar...
