Men's Hydrophobic Down Jacket

THE BENCHMARK. OUR WARMEST HYDROPHOBIC DOWN JACKET

Built in the name of one thing: warmth.

With 275g of hydrophobic 850 Fill Power goose down, nothing about this jacket is ordinary.  It takes the longest to manufacture of all garments in our range, encompassing the most individual steps in all of our production processes, and requiring more individual construction specialists to build than any of our other down jackets.

Our water-repellent down stays dry 10x longer than untreated down, meaning continued insulation even when damp. Unlike inferior versions, our water repellency won’t wash out and is free of harmful fluorocarbons. Our ethical approach to down sourcing complies with the Responsible Down Standard.

Winter 22/23 sees updated fit and patterning, an external chest pocket, adapted hood fit with improved visibility, and enlarged twin internal mesh-lined dump pockets for hat, gloves or ski skins.

Outstanding down coat

I am 5'9" and approximately 190 pounds. I don't climb cold mountains, but I do visit cold climates, I'm often outside during winter, and wanted a winter coat that would keep me warm during a winter vacation to Alaska, Scandinavia, or wherever else I may roam. This looks like it will function wonderfully! It's 3/20, and I can't speak to how warm it keeps me (although, all signs indicate it will function wonderfully), but I can speak to the ordering process, customer service, returns, and sizes:

I live in the United States and so experienced the wait for international shipping. Twice! :) I ordered a Large, which is often my size with other clothing items, and it felt like a long wait for delivery. In fact, at some point, I thought the item may have been lost in transit. Communication from the shipping agent was a bit spotty, and it took a few weeks for delivery.

When the item finally arrived, the Large was enormous. I don't know that I've ever had a Large sized coat fit as big as this one. It was far too large for me. So I exchanged it for a Medium, and the exchange process went perfectly. Unfortunately, I had to pay the international shipping for the return, but that was worth it to me vs. keeping a coat that would have never been used.

The Medium size that I'd requested was processed far more quickly than the original purchase, and the communication that I received from the shipping agent was great the second time around. The coat arrived in quick order, and the Medium fit me perfectly. It's exactly what I was hoping it would be, and I'm thrilled with the fit and finish of the coat. The quality of the build is abundantly clear, it fits great, and looks like it will serve perfectly for how I plan to use it.

Just one more comment on size: After the Large proved to be far too large, and I returned it, I ordered a Fenrir in Medium. I figured that if the Large Fenrir fit like the Large Fjorm, then it too would be too large and a Medium would be a safe purchase. It wasn't. The Fenrir in Medium is a bit too tight and uncomfortable for me, but it fits my son perfectly and so I gave it to him. So...looks like a Fenrir in Large size may fit me, however, the Fjorm in Medium is definitely the right size for me, as well. Makes it a bit hard to know what to order, but hopefully this experience helps others.

Hold the line!

I could’ve done with this jacket during the Battle of the Bulge.

Jokes asides, looks and feels
great and it’s so warm, probably a little too warm but if I look after this jacket it will last me years. Good job from the bods and Jottner and will be adding more to my kit and equipment.

A feeling of warmth

I bought mine several years ago, and I’m still grateful to myself for making the choice to buy it!
My friends comment on how light it is, and I keep telling them, ”It’s not a warm jacket, it’s a feeling of warmth!”
