Chest/Bust

With the tape under your armpit, measure across fullest part and across shoulder blades.

Waist

Measure around natural waistline at the narrowest part.

Use & Highlights

When to use — Trekking over multi-day use where durability matters, and for those who want a trouser that looks as good off the hill as on it.

Versus the Tol — A fundamentally different proposition: where the Tol is a lightweight synthetic softshell, the Torv is a waxed cotton-blend built for sheer resilience. Heavier and more structured, with greater durability.

Wax finish — The PFC-free DWR and wax coating sheds wind, dirt and light rain. It improves with use and can be re-waxed to restore full performance over the life of the trouser.

Pockets — The most extensively pocketed piece in the range: two hip hand pockets, two YKK-zipped thigh pockets, two large bellow pockets large neough for an OS map, and a rear zipped pocket. Everything accessible on the move.

Waist & ankle — Low-profile Velcro waist adjusters and belt loops. Press-stud ankle adjusters with internal boot hooks seal against snow and dirt ingress.

Reinforcement — Reinforced knees and seat for durability. Articulated knee patterning for freedom of movement on steep terrain.

Not for cold weather

Have a few Jottnar jackets which I love but these trousers were a bit disappointing; especially given the price. The fit is OK although they are a bit long in an XL (and I am 6' 1'') but, for me, you'd need thermal leggings underneath if it was at all cold (although at least they a roomy enough to allow for that).

SVEND Windshell Pullover

Just received my Svend windshell by courier and on opening the package I was stunned. Wow!!! The quality, stitching and finish is superb. Then I tried it on and I was totally sold. Perfect fit and it feels like a top of the line bit of kit. Absolutely no regrets on spending the money on this. Will be saving up to buy more Jottnar.

Great for hiking

Bought as a present it enable my husband to store maps in the front pockets making them easily accessible. Good fit great quality, not tried in the rain but it won’t be long and will come into their own on our next adventure on the West Highland Way.

Well thought out pair of trousers, but at a price

The fjallraven Keb is a strong competitor to these - only thing is the Jottnar trousers aren’t as fitted/slim which I love. Plenty of room to adjust all over the trousers and they fit the upper legs and buttocks brilliantly. When I’ve been using them for winter climbing, I would say that the flexibility isn’t quite there in the more difficult positions.

For the price they are expensive but I understand now that Jottnar as a brand are excellent, so if there are any issues they get resolved with the customer is mind unlike some of the other name brands.

FYI I’m 6ft with a 30” waist and the M are perhaps a touch too big on waist but the waist adjusters help with that.

I wish I knew these were getting 25% off as I bought them full price the other week!!!
