Men's Hard Shell Waterproof Mountain Jacket

HIGH PERFORMANCE TECHNICAL HARD SHELL

Odin is a fully featured hard shell technical mountain jacket built to the same specification as our Grim hard shell, but with chest pockets instead of the Grim’s hand pockets. Odin is designed to be a winter fortress in the most atrocious conditions, without sacrificing those features which lend it versatility for all year use.

Jöttnar SKJOLDR™ windproof, waterproof, breathable fabric provides superb harsh weather protection and durability. Two way pit zips allow temperature regulation, the helmet compatible hood pattern gives excellent visibility and unimpeded movement, and the anti-snag hem cords avoid tangling with gear.

Wear over a mid layer or base layer as your final protective outer layer for skiing and mountaineering.

Odin jacket

I’m really happy with the Odin It’s not my first jottnar jacket. I choose jottnar because the quality is excellent and it’s products are extremely well made from the best materials available. Great job lads I highly recommend the Odin jacket for winter mountaineering.

Excellent

Very happy with the jacket, I've had 2 hard shell before both by different high end companies, this one looks the best made, winters not arrived yet but I cannot wait to try it.
I can be large and xlarge in jackets, got a large and plenty room for layering up underneath.

My Rab Latok shell is about 15 years old, however while it is still going strong and looks like it may never die the original design lacked under arm vents. So that jacket is really binary; excellent but with limited flexibility when your pushing hard.

I have a few bits already from Jöttnar’s range and was impressed with the quality, so I decided to give one of their hard-shells a try.

The quality of this jacket is clear as soon as you open the packaging and I literally couldn’t wait to give it a test out in the mountains. Just looking at the chunky weather seal tapes tells you a lot.
So far I’ve had it out twice (Aonach Eagach Ridge and Sgurr Dearg), both times so far I was impressed. It is a bombshelter in highwinds/rain and has large enough vents that it can be left on for long periods of time when scrambling hard.

All the zips and cuffs are perfect and very comfortable, the attrition of the soft fabric beard/neck protection patches in the hood area work well for us hairy ones.

I really found the glove pocket on the inside very useful… no more jamming one glove either side in the external chest pockets 😊

Was very comfortable with a pack and also with a helmet… hood cinches down well when not using a lid.

Issues mentioned in reviews I read when researching my purchase:

Noise? It is a hard shell; so you would expect it be noisier than a soft or hybrid shell. But I must say I don’t find it noisy either regarding movement or for hearing with the hood up.

Arms too baggy? The arms do have plenty of space in them and that continues down to the wrist, the cuffs are deliberately oversized to allow easy glove management. I’m no Popeye, but I find the arms fine. There is space for more layers and the cuffs are half elasticated with very good Velcro adjuster.

So far I am delighted with this shell and can’t wait for the Winter already!!

Love it.
