Men's Lightweight Down Gilet

A VERSATILE HYDROPHOBIC GOOSE DOWN GILET FOR COLD CONDITIONS

A lightweight goose down gilet for ultra flexibility on the mountain and for everyday wear in the valley. The Asta is filled with 850 Fill Power goose down, in a premium 93/7 down/feather ratio, which gives an amazing warmth to weight ratio. A water repellent rip-stop face fabric resists the wet and blocks the wind.

Our water-repellent down from DownTek™ stays dry 10x longer than untreated down. Unlike inferior versions, our water repellency won’t wash out and is free from harmful fluorocarbons. Our ethical approach to down sourcing complies with the Responsible Down Standard.

An open apology

I didn’t follow the old adage off ‘when climbing, dress for the second mile, not the first’ because when I unpacked my Gilet i was disappointed with its thickness! Needless to say I was a mile in and stripping base layers off! Deceivingly warm! Love it

Mixed feelings

I have had my Astra Gillet for a couple of months now and I have mixed feelings. On the one hand it’s warm and comfortable but on the other hand I frequently have feathers poke through, sometimes I can pull them back from the other side, but often it’s by seams where this isn’t possible. This has unfortunately put me off buying the Thorne jacket as I often feel I have to be extra careful when wearing the gillet which I don’t have with other down clothing I own. However I mainly use this for my office and it looks smart and I’ve been asked about the brand a few times. This is hard to write as the customer service from Jottnar is great and I have other products which I love. I’m still planning on buying some mid layers as this has definitely not put me off the brand but has made me a bit cautious of what items I do purchase.

Asta Gilet

At first unwrapping I thought, this s too light to keep you warm but I was wrong... it does! I have purchased quite a few JOTTNAR products and I have never been disappointed, I'm always dry and warm. I have to add though, I don't venture up mountains.

Tight fit

I bought the ASTA gilet in large. The fit in the body is exactly as I wanted BUT the arm hole is reinforced with elastic .

This cuts into my muscles and therefore is uncomfortable and restrictive. I will probably keep the gilet and experiment with cutting a V to release the tension caused by the elastic. I will report back. Why not have a zip or Velcro to allow adjustment?
