Men's All-Mountain Goose Down Jacket (Past Season)

MOUNTAIN DURABLE. WARM & RELENTLESSLY RELIABLE

Built for the cold, the climb, and the chaos. The deep-baffled Thorne features Pertex® Quantum - a superlight, windproof, and water-resistant outer fabric that maximises down loft for heightened warmth and comfort. Its DWR finish sheds light rain and snow to provide extra protection.

Relentlessly capable, this hard-wearing goose down jacket is your daily alpine workhorse. Designed for multi-activity use in cold and rough conditions. A refined balance of durability, comfort, and versatility makes it a powerhouse on and off the mountain. With a remarkable warmth-to-weight ratio, 750 Fill Power goose down, and a premium 90/10 down-to-feather ratio, it'll quickly become your go-to layer for everyday cold-weather adventure.

Our DownTek™ hydrophobic goose down stays dry 10x longer and dries 3x quicker than standard down, reducing fear of exposure in changeable conditions and will never wash out.

Feature rich: Body-mapped synthetic insulation is positioned in potential moisture zones at the chin, cuffs and hood. Concealed technical cuffs, hand warmer pockets with front facing insulation, articulated sleeves, reverse coil zippers, Jöttnar’s signature no-snag hem cords, and a stuff sack for its lightweight carriage.

Our ethical approach complies with the Responsible Down Standard, and our hydrophobic down uses bluesign®-approved clean chemistry for its water repellency treatment.

Reviews displayed include the earlier editions of the Thorne. We’ve kept them here to showcase the Thorne legacy while introducing the new 2025 version; further refined and improved.

Review from an ancient Northman.

Just bought my first Jöttnar jacket, Thorne, and I couldn't be happier. Fits perfectly, looks and feels quality and most importantly keeps me very warm, unlike my previous favourite brand I don't have to wear a mid - layer or wear a neck tube as it zips up snuggly to my chin. I also love the back story of the brand creators and the Norse references.
I've previously been a big fan of a rival brand from Sheffield and own various editions of all four layers but will now be switching to your brand and look forward to doing the same with you.
I'm not a soldier, an athlete or a mountaineer I'm a man in his 60's who walks every day in the Yorkshire countryside and will do so from now on wearing Jöttnar.

Quality Kit

Managed to grab one of these in the sale. Superb quality jacket which is well made, went with a medium and the fit is spot on for me, it does what it says and protects you even with a single layer on below. The warmth from the insulation can really be felt but it never gets too hot that you become uncomfortable.

Well impressed

Took advantage of the sale back in may I think it was and bought for a great price, I’ve not had the chance to use it for what it was made for until last week, -8 to -9 with a wind chill of -12 in the Cairngorms, I used an eclipse base layer underneath and was quite comfortable with just the 2 layers so definitely performed in low temperatures,, I got caught out without a shell over it,in a downpour and one of the sleeves soaked through within 10 minutes where the baffles are stitched, a spray of nikwax should solve that,,, my First purchase from jottnar and I’m over the moon with quality and how it performed regardless the sleeve soaking through, that much so I’m online looking to upgrade my 8 year old ME Rupal shell with either the Asgard or the Midgard

Excellent

Great jacket that looks and feels really quality. It’s really warm and works well with layers. Had mine for nearly a year now and it’s still in fantastic condition.

Exceptional

I’ve toyed with buying this jacket for a couple of years now but so glad I’ve finally taken the plunge! WOW! The moment you put it on you can feel the high quality.
It’s so warm with just a t-shirt underneath in late September. I’m really looking forward to seeing how it performs throughout winter. The masses can keep their ‘designer’ jackets, I’ve got the real deal!
