When to use — Positioned between the Asgard and Midgard: more durable and feature-rich than the Midgard but lighter and more packable than the Asgard. Built for all-mountain skiing, winter climbing, trekking and mountaineering in sustained bad weather. The 75D SKJOLDR™ construction makes this the better choice over the Midgard where durability matters.
SKJOLDR™ — our proprietary fabric, developed in conjunction with Japanese textile specialists. The 75D 3-layer construction delivers 20,000mm waterproofing with high breathability through a bonded membrane. 100% recycled polyester face and PFC-free DWR. The key distinction from Pertex® Shield (used in the Asgard and Midgard) is the fabric’s emphasis on durability and abrasion resistance.
Weight & packability — Under 550g in a men’s medium: meaningful for a jacket with this feature set. The Grim can be stowed in a pack without the weight penalty of the Asgard, making it the right choice for days where conditions may require a shell but the approach is long.
Hood — Climbing helmet-compatible, wire-stiffened with a mouldable laminated peak. Glove-compatible hood adjuster. The RECCO® Rescue System reflector is integrated into the hood peak — passive rescue technology requiring no action from the wearer.
Zips & weather sealing — 2-way YKK® AquaGuard® front zip with internal storm gasket. AquaGuard® zips on all pockets and pit zips. Glove-compatible Cohaesive™ hem adjusters. No-loop anti-snag hem cords.
Pockets — Expanded hand pockets positioned and sized to remain accessible under a rucksack belt or climbing harness. Internal mesh dump pocket for hats, gloves and ski skins. Internal valuables stretch pocket. Forearm lift pass pocket.
Cuffs — Hypalon® tabs with triple-reinforced VELCRO™ stitching and elasticated cinch. Hypalon® is a synthetic rubber compound used at high-wear cuff points for long-term durability.
Ethics & sustainability — 100% recycled polyester face fabric. PFC-free DWR treatment throughout.
