Valen trousers

Nice well made trousers I use for general hiking. Found to be slightly tighter than same size in some other makes but as i have a few Jottnar clothing items I’m used to this - perhaps a new customer should size up a tad. Would like to see more choice of colours ( across full range )

Won’t find a better quality hiking/walking trousers

Excellent quality, great in all weathers. Tried loads of brands and types and these are the best by far.
You can tell straight away a lot of thought has gone into the design. Belt is great feature.

Cuillin Test: passed with flying colours.

Purchased a pair end of June and now finally used them on the Cuillin ridge. I think they are superb. The fit is comfortable and close, yet allowing unrestricted range of movement, for walking, climbing and abseiling. The material feels top-end and proved to be very resilient up against the Gabro and inspired confidence. Compared to my usual Montane mountaineering trousers, these win out; I had experienced situations where sweating around knee caused the Montane to catch on the inside and restrict movement, but this was never the case with the Valen. Having used them I can highly recommend them, however I can offer some constructive criticism. The belt, I dont particularly mind it, but it did come lose when wearing a harness, just the once, but this has been mentioned by others. Regardless of the belt, I found the lack of any traditional loops afforded by the construction a bit annoying; just one on either side would be useful for clipping say, hat or gloves. I also found the front pocket not very mobile-phone friendly, as it doesnt sit right when enclosed and impacts on movement and the back pocket option, whilst comfortable makes the phone more vulnerable; OK that sounds very niche, but if you like taking photos it is something to think about. A possible stretch, close fitting side slot as in decent gym pants might help. However, the quality of the actual pockets, zips and the overall construction of the trousers is excellent and I will likely be buying another pair.
