Jöttnar produces premium, technical clothing for mountain sports, focusing on climbing, skiing and mountaineering.

Born in Arctic Norway, it is the creation of two former Royal Marine commandos who are lifelong mountaineers, climbers and skiers, and this DNA runs deep in the company. They run Jöttnar, they help design the gear, and personally test it alongside Jöttnar's Pro Team athletes.

We are a disruptive and creative Cardiff-based company, currently with a small high performing team delivering ambitious growth plans year-on-year.

An ecommerce focused brand without retail stores, this is a heavily digital-led company looking to grow market share substantially, with a key aspect of this growth plan being exceptional design and creative professionals within the marketing team.

Role

An exciting role for an experienced graphic designer within a forward-thinking ecommerce company in the technical outdoor clothing industry. Reporting to the Creative Brand Manager and playing a key role in a 3-person Creative team, working alongside a junior designer. Following brand direction curated by the Creative Brand Manager, this role combines creativity and design skills to resource and help implement new product campaigns, product promo projects, email and social campaigns, website sale events, day-to-day promotion, content design, and support of the brand's indoor and outdoor photoshoot requirements.

You will assist with all aspects of brand and product presentation across multiple customer-facing platforms including website, email and social, ensuring that it best represents Jöttnar. You will additionally assist with the daily retail functionality of Jöttnar’s website, helping to optimise the customer touchpoints.

 Key Duties

  • Assist with the creation and editing of imagery, video and copy for web and digital marketing use including: post-production of studio product shots; in-action product shots; promotional email content; social media and advertising graphics; product landing pages and visuals for multi-channel advertising.
  • Develop and execute creative design concepts that align with brand direction, product promotion and industry trends.
  • Support the brand's indoor and outdoor photoshoot requirements, including pre-planning, shoot-day deliverables, and post-production editing.
  • Stay at the forefront of digital design trends and technologies, continually sourcing innovative ideas and solutions.
  • Uploading to website product and outdoor photography, ensuring visual merchandising and brand consistency is of the highest standard.
  • Support the day-to-day retail operation and functionality of the website and branded channels including ad-hoc tasks as delegated.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 4+ years' experience in a commercial design-based role of a relevant nature.
  • A commercial and design background. Agency-side design experience can also be relevant.
  • A compelling design portfolio with a commercial / product / brand orientation, including examples of successfully led campaigns. University experience/personal projects not included.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously through strong time-management and organisational skills. As a small team being agile is essential.
  • Fluency in Adobe creative suite with excellent knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator. Knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro and After Affects is desirable, but not essential.
  • Experience with Shopify (or similar ecommerce platforms) a bonus. 
  • Experience with commercial email platforms e.g. Mailchimp/Klaviyo.
  • Fluency in MS Office applications.
  • Knowledge of social media design is essential, including Instagram and Facebook.
  • Passion for brand marketing and product visual merchandising with the skill to execute it in an ecommerce environment.
  • Ambitious, high energy, good communication skills, positive attitude, team player.
  • Well-organised, with an excellent eye for detail.
  • Able to take initiative and work well independently as well as in a team setting.

 About You

  • You will have experience in an agency or client-side/commercial with a demonstrable portfolio.
  • You thrive on generating new designs and creative that stands out from existing industry creative. 
  • Thorough understanding of typographical principles, layout conceptualisation and current best practices in design.
  • Highly motivated by the freedom this role allows to produce creative work for a premium brand looking to make noise in an exciting outdoor clothing industry.
  • You will have the maturity, discipline, speed of output and self-confidence to operate in a fast-paced commercial environment.
  • Diligence, conscientiousness and attention to detail will be amongst your defining characteristics.
  • A high standard of written English is essential.
  • An understanding of outdoor sports and knowledge of the outdoor clothing market is desirable.

 Remuneration, Benefits and Conditions

  • Annual salary: £30,000-£36,000 per year (DOE).

Schedule:

  • HQ based in Cardiff.
  • Monday to Friday 9am-5pm.
  • Travel to HQ will be required. (Role cannot facilitate being fully-remote)

    Work Location: Must be able to travel and commute to Cardiff HQ (CF24 5EA)
